HONOLULU (AP) — Robert Allenby could barely open his left eye Sunday morning. He says it was bruised and swollen from a robbery and beating in Honolulu that he still can’t explain.
Allenby tells The Associated Press he watched surveillance video of him leaving a bar with four people Friday night after missing the cut in the Sony Open. He has no recollection of what happened next until he was shoved out of the car into a gutter and was being kicked and prodded by homeless people.
The 43-year-old Australian golfer says he is still badly shaken. He says his ordeal reminds him of something he would see in a movie.
