LOS ANGELES, May 12 (UPI) — A wartime hero reminisces on his past in the first trailer for director Ang Lee’s upcoming drama, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.

Released Thursday, the clip features newcomer Joe Alwyn as 19-year-old Billy, as he is being honored during a football halftime show along with Bravo Squad for their efforts during an intense battle with Iraqi forces. As the celebration commences, flashbacks depict Billy’s journey from new recruit to battle-hardened solider.

“Through flashbacks, culminating at the spectacular halftime show of the Thanksgiving Day football game, the film reveals what really happened to the squad – contrasting the realities of the war with America’s perceptions,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

Based on the 2012 Ben Fountain novel of the same name, the film also stars Chris Tucker, Garrett Hedlund, Vin Diesel, Steve Martin and Kristen Stewart who appears as Billy’s concerned sister.

Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk marks Ang Lee’s first film since helming the Oscar-winning Life of Pi from 2012. According to Deadline, Lee shot the film at 120 frames per second, up from the standard 24 frames to create a more immersive viewing experience.

Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk arrives in theaters on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
