LOS ANGELES, June 15 (UPI) — Both Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson confirmed Monday that they will be returning for Pitch Perfect 3, which was green-lighted by Universal Studios last week.
“Happening #3″ Kendrick captioned an Instagram photo of herself holding up three fingers.
Wilson, who already let the news slip to a reporter last month, tweeted Monday: “I know I spilt the beans a little while ago, but at least now it’s OFFICIAL!!
Universal also announced Monday that the film is slated for a July 2017 release.
Pitch Perfect 2 made an impressive $69.2 million when it opened last month, setting the record for the highest-ever opening weekend for a musical.
Though it’s unclear whether Elizabeth Banks, who directed the sequel, will return for Pitch Perfect 3, the actress-turned-director welcomed the news on Twitter.
“It’s on,” she wrote.
