LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (UPI) — Starz says it has ordered a second season of Ash vs. Evil Dead ahead of the horror-comedy’s premiere Saturday.
The show is executive produced by the franchise’s original filmmakers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell, who will also return for the sophomore outing, along with stars Campbell and Lucy Lawless. Craig DiGregorio will continue in his dual role of executive producer and showrunner.
“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash,” Carmi Zlotnik, the cable television network’s managing director, said in a statement Wednesday.
“The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with Season 1.”
“Ash vs. Evil Dead follows Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead,” a synopsis said. “When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its ‘Evil’ grip.”
