At least 6 injured in Israeli bus station shooting

BEERSHEBA, Israel, Oct. 18 (UPI) — At least six people were injured, including four law enforcement officers, in a shooting at Beersheba’s central bus station amid ongoing violence in the region.

Officials said one of the two gunmen, thought to be Palestinians, was shot dead. The second was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Witnesses told police the two gunman split up when they arrived at the station and began their assault. Some of the victims were also stabbed.

Hospital authorities said two of the victims sustained serious injuries.

In the past month, at least eight Israelis have been killed in attacks, mostly stabbings, by Palestinians. In that time, at least 40 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire. The spate of violence began over Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, in September.
