Australia contracts for defense computer network upgrades

CANBERRA, Australia, Nov. 13 (UPI) — Northrop Grumman M5 Network Security is to enhance Australia’s Defense Network Operations Center under an Australian Department of Defense contract.

The Phase 2B.2, JP2068 program contract will result in improved monitoring and security of major communications networks and information systems.

“This contract marks the formalization of a partnership between [the Department of] Defense and Northrop Grumman Australia as a trusted cyber-systems integrator with the ability to deliver enhanced cyber-security to Defense,” said Ian Irving, chief executive, Northrop Grumman Australia.

No details were given as to the specific work to be performed. The value of the contract and its performance period were also not disclosed.

Northrop Grumman M5 Network Security was formed in 2003 to provide cybersecurity services to military, government and large corporations. In 2015, it won the Defense Science and Technology Group Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science for Safeguarding Australia, Northrop Grumman Australia said.
