Australian boy hiccups his way through the national anthem

ADELAIDE, Australia, Nov. 23 (UPI) — A young Australian boy battled through a case of hiccups while singing the national anthem at a baseball game on Friday.

A viral video shows 7-year-old Ethan Hall singing “Advance Australia Fair” before a game between the Adelaide Bite and Brisbane Bandits while hiccuping throughout.

His first hiccup comes about midway through the first verse, but Hall pushes through unfazed as they continue throughout the song.

On Monday, Hall told Good Morning Britain that the hiccups did leave him briefly before his performance, thanks to some help from his father.

“At home I had the hiccups when I was getting changed and then daddy scared me. I wasn’t expecting it. He actually didn’t scare me, he scared the hiccups,” he said.

Unfortunately, Hall’s hiccups made a return just in time for his performance.

Although players can be seen snickering throughout Hall’s performance, he was met with high fives and accolades for his perseverance when he finished.
