Australian fisherman lands 8-foot bronze whaler shark

LIPSON, Australia, Dec. 9 (UPI) — An Australian fisherman dragged a massive 8-foot bronze whaler shark ashore off the country’s southern coast and his struggle with the “big fish” was caught on video.

Fisherman Jack Jacobs, who posted video of his catch to YouTube, said it took him about 25 minutes to reel in the “big fish,” identified as a bronze whaler shark, also known as a copper shark or narrowtooth shark.

The video shows Jacobs reel the shark into shallow water at Lipson Cove before dragging it ashore by its tail.

Jacobs and his comrades use a tape measure to determine the shark measures 8 feet long.

The video ends with Jacobs dragging the shark back into the water and watching it begin to swim away.
