ORINDA, Calif., Dec. 7 (UPI) — Ayesha Curry, wife of reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry received backlash on Twitter recently after comments she made regarding women’s fashion.
“Everyone’s into barely wearing clothes these days huh? Not my style,” she tweeted out Saturday during her mini-rant. “I like to keep the good stuff covered up for the one who matters.”
“Just looking at the latest fashion trends. I’ll take classy over trendy any day of the week. #saturdaynightinsight,” she continued before negative remarks started pouring in towards her.
Critics were quick to point out that Curry came off as condescending and some even accused the 26-year-old of slut-shaming.
Curry took the responses in stride however responding back “and all I’m doing is sitting here reading a style weekly. You guys definitely entertain me that’s for sure.”
Soon, however, the debate turned ugly when some Twitter users started attacking others over which type of clothing they preferred to wear. Curry then quickly tweeted out to stop the harassment. “Regardless of if you like my “style of clothes” or not (which I don’t care) please do not tear women down and degrade them… Not cool peeps.”
The mother of two also received support from Khloe Kardashian when she tweeted out, “just love @ayeshacurry!!! Always staying true to you. My kind of lady. Blessings on blessings!!!”
