LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (UPI) — Azealia Banks publicly berated a flight attendant shortly after landing in Los Angeles early Tuesday morning.
The 24-year-old rapper was caught on video arguing with and calling the employee a homophobic slur during an altercation over her luggage. Sources told TMZ the incident started after a couple blocked Banks’ exit from the plane.
Banks was reportedly trying to squeeze past the pair when the man put out his hand to stop her from passing. An eyewitness said the star spit in the person’s face before punching him and clawing at his shirt. The flight attendant intervened, grabbing the rapper’s carry-on bag.
The rapper defended her previous use of the homophobic slur during an interview on SiriusXM in February, claiming she uses the word in a “feminist way.” She dismissed criticism for this most recent incident Tuesday on Twitter.
“Now you all can sit here in your fake outrage and discuss this amongst yourselves!! I’m headed to the beauty parlor! SIYONARA [EXPLETIVE],” she wrote before re-tweeting several posts of fan support.
Banks released her debut studio album, Broke with Expensive Taste, in November 2014, and promoted the record on her tour of the same name. The album peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard 200, and includes the singles “Yung Rapunxel” and “Ice Princess.”
