NASHUA, N.H., Jan. 4 (UPI) — A new electronic warfare suite for C-130J aircraft operated by U.S. Special Operations Command is to be developed by BAE Systems.
The Radio Frequency Countermeasure system, or RFCM, to be developed is the first phase of a more than $400 million multi-phase life-cycle program to enhance the aircraft’s capabilities to detect, identify, locate, deny, degrade, disrupt, and defeat threat systems in operational significant environments.
The system will provide fully integrated, precision geo-location, and radio frequency counter-measure capabilities against land-based and airborne threats.
The contract awarded for the EW suite is worth more than $20 million.
BAE Systems will perform product development and platform integration work over a 12-month period of time, it said, and the suite will be integrated into both MC-130J Commando II and AC-130J Ghostrider aircraft.
