LOS ANGELES, June 29 (UPI) — The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles has announced it will honor screen icon Samuel L. Jackson with the Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment.

The prize will be bestowed at this year’s British Academy Britannia Awards on Oct. 28 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The gala will be hosted for a second time by British actor and comedian Jack Whitehall.

“Like the distinguished producer after whom this award is named, Samuel L Jackson has made an undeniable contribution to the global film industry,” Kieran Breen, BAFTA Los Angeles chairman, said in a statement Tuesday. “He has provided us with some of the most iconic roles in movie history not to mention some of the classic movie lines of all time. With a prolific shooting schedule that would put other actors to shame, including some quality time spent in the United Kingdom, we are thrilled that he is able to join us for this year’s British Academy Britannia Awards.”

Jackson, 67, was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the BET Awards earlier this week. His film credits include The Legend of Tarzan, The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Snakes on a Plane, A Time to Kill, The Incredibles, Star Wars: Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith, Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever, True Romance and the Marvel movie franchise.
