Baltimore (AFP) – Baltimore police officer Caesar Goodson was acuitted Thursday of all charges including second degree murder and manslaughter in the case of Freddie Gray, whose fatal injury in police custody last year sparked riots in Maryland’s largest city.

Because the state failed to meet its burden of proof in any of the seven charges, “the verdict on all counts is not guilty,” Judge Barry Williams said.

Three of the six officers charged in the case have now been tried, and no guilty verdicts have been handed down in the three trials.
