Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker shows off vocals

BALTIMORE, Dec. 11 (UPI) — Instead of using a football, Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker kicked up his vocal talents Thursday.

Tucker performed ‘Ave Maria’ for a Catholic Charities benefit concert with the Concert Artists of Baltimore.

The 26-year-old was making a guest appearance at the Baltimore Basilica’s Christmas concert.

Edward Polochick, the conductor of the Christmas Festival, said he had heard the Baltimore Symphony and New York Opera could not get Tucker to perform, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

“They said, ‘Well, somebody on the committee knows somebody who knows somebody who knows the handler of Justin Tucker,’” Polochick told Hensley. “I said, then tell the somebody to tell the somebody to tell him that the Archbishop wants him to sing this year. Then when he is place-kicking, we know he’ll have the real connection.”

Tucker has one Pro Bowl selection and one first-team All-Pro selection, both coming in 2013. The Texas product has made 26 of 33 field goal opportunities this season and 24 of 24 extra points. In his four seasons in Baltimore, Tucker has made all 134 of his extra point chances and hit 87.2 percent of his field goals.
