Barack Obama jokes with Jerry Seinfeld on season premiere of ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’

WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 (UPI) — President Barack Obama was the first guest to kick off Season 7 of Jerry Seinfeld’s popular web-series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

Aired on Wednesday night, the episode features Seinfeld arriving at the White House in a 1963 Corvette Stingray, silver blue, to pick up his special guest.

“I thought the coolest car, American made, for the coolest guy ever to hold this office,” Seinfeld said to Obama, who had different ideas about what to drive which led them to take a spin in the presidential limousine.

“I could call a nuclear submarine right here,” the President joked. “I bet you don’t have that in your car.”

The episode primarily took place on White House grounds, although normally Seinfeld and his guests drive around the city before stopping at a coffee shop. Instead, the two stepped back into the building to pick up their joe. “Just a ‘lil, ‘lil gin I take mid-day,” Obama quipped, before speaking more seriously about world leaders being “crazy.”

He also alluded to missing not being famous, saying “I would love to just be taking a walk and then I run into you. You’re sitting on a bench. And suddenly I say, ‘Hey Jerry, how ya doin?’ That moment when you lost your anonymity. And anonymity is not something you think about as being valuable.”

But ultimately, the President admitted he was only appearing on the show to promote Obamacare, which prompted Seinfeld to turn his eyes to the camera and say, “Please try Obamacare today.”
