LONDON, June 22 (UPI) — Ben Affleck has given an update on his upcoming stand-alone Batman film stating that he is still working on the script.

“I have a script, we’re still working on it, and I’m not happy enough with it yet to actually go out there and make a Batman movie, for which I have the highest of standards, I would say,” the actor said speaking with Collider while press was invited onto the set of superhero team-up film Justice League where production has started in London.

“That’s something that would have to pass a very high bar for me. It’s not just like, ‘Yeah, that might be fun, let’s go try this out,” he continued.

In terms of a release date, Affleck is still unsure when the film may actually release. “I think they [Warner Bros.] have a date for it. Although, I don’t know if I would necessarily be able to make that date because I don’t have a script that’s ready yet. So that’s my—my timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out,” he said

Affleck, who is also expected to direct the film, was first officially attached to the Batman solo project back in April following the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Affleck will be seen as the iconic caped crusader in the villain-focused Suicide Squad due in theaters Aug. 5 and Justice League, expected to release on Nov. 17, 2017.

A plot synopsis for Justice League — also starring Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman) Ray Fisher (Cyborg) J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Amber Heard (Mera) and Willem Dafoe in an unspecified role — was released Tuesday.

“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy,” it reads.

“Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”
