ATHENS, Greece, Aug. 3 (UPI) — It only makes sense that the man who worked to negotiate more money for Cristiano Ronaldo would reap its benefits.
But Ronaldo-the-client surpassed everyone’s expectations when he revealed his wedding gift to agent and friend Jorge Mendes.
Ronaldo strayed from the registry and bought Mendes, and wife Sandra, a Greek island for his special day, according to Portuguese news outlet Move Noticas.
Ronaldo, who was Mendez’s best man, made $80 million last year, according to Forbes.
Greece had about 12 islands and other land for sale, as well as its mail service, Athens’ sewage company, highways and stadiums, according to the Washington Post. The Wall Street Journal reported that Greece has about 20 islands for sale.
Ronaldo paid between $3.4 million and $54 million, according to Private Islands Online.
