LOS ANGELES, Jan. 26 (UPI) — Scientist and television personality Bill Nye said the science of Deflategate proves Bill Belichick’s explanation for the Patriots scandal makes no sense.
The NFL concluded 11 out of 12 of the Patriots balls were deflated ahead of their championship game against the Colts, but doesn’t think it was done purposefully.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said the balls were deflated due to exposure to the cold weather. Nye said that is not something that could happen. Nye maintains the only way to change pressure in the football is to use a deflation needle.
Other scientist disagree with Nye. The crew of Carnegie Mellon University students and professors at HeadSmart Labs said the cold can reduce the pressure in the football. Graham Gano of the Carolina Panthers, vouched the cold did the same thing to a football he used.
In the spirit of full disclosure, Nye, who worked at Boeing in Seattle, closed his segment with “Go Seahawks!”
