LOS ANGELES, Dec. 23 (UPI) — Blake Lively delighted fans this week by admitting she still watches Gossip Girl episodes.
The 28-year-old actress shared a screenshot of former co-star Chace Crawford on Instagram after watching The CW show’s series premiere. Lively played Serena van der Woodsen on the teen drama, while Crawford portrayed Nate Archibald.
“This 2007 style is the true Miracle on 34th Street,” she joked in the caption. “Only @chacecrawford could pull it off. (Yes. I came across the first episode last night. And watched the whole damn thing. But don’t tell ANYONE!) X Oh. X Ohhhhh.”
Lively and Crawford starred as Serena and Nate for a six-season run from 2007 to 2012. The actress’ portrayal of the blonde beauty helped make her a fashion icon, but she later told Allure she wasn’t thrilled about the character in real life.
“People loved it, but it always felt a little personally compromising — you want to be putting a better message out there,” she said. “It doesn’t help when everybody is dating who they’re dating on the show, and you’re also saying to the costume designer, ‘Hey, can I take that home?’”
“It’s a weird thing when people feel like they know you really well, and they don’t,” she added. “I would not be proud to be the person who gave someone the cocaine that made them overdose and then shot someone and slept with someone else’s boyfriend.”
Gossip Girl casting director David Rappaport revealed Lively wasn’t the network’s first choice for Serena in October. The actress has since starred in The Age of Adaline, and is slated for All I See is You with Jason Clarke and a new Woody Allen film with Kristen Stewart.
