Bobbi Kristina Brown’s beau Nick Gordon was ‘collapsing and wailing’ during interview with Dr. Phil

ATLANTA, March 11 (UPI) — Dr. Phil McGraw says Bobbi Kristina Brown’s beau Nick Gordon was intoxicated and distraught when they met last week.

McGraw said the interview for his Dr. Phil chat program, which is to air Wednesday, quickly became an intervention when Gordon’s representatives and mother expressed how worried they were about the young man. By the time McGraw was done counseling him, Gordon was on his way to rehab to seek help for his alcohol and drug abuse, as well as his suicidal thoughts.

“He’d go from being able to talk like we’re talking now to just all of a sudden collapsing and wailing,” McGraw told TV’s Entertainment Tonight about Gordon. “And then he would pull out his phone and turn on a Whitney song and just start crying.”

McGraw went on to say Gordon appeared overwhelmed with feelings of indirect responsibility for the fates of Brown and her late mother, Whitney Houston.

“He was saying, ‘I feel a huge amount of guilt here.’ He says, ‘My job from the time I moved in with these people, was to protect Whitney and protect Krissy,’” McGraw said. “Whitney is dead. Bobbi is in a coma. He thinks he has failed them horribly. He said, ‘I feel so guilty about that.’ And then he says: ‘I am in so much pain. I want to be with her. Let me be with her. I want to stroke her hair, I want to touch her, I want to kiss her forehead. I want her to hear my voice.’”

Brown, 22, has been hospitalized on life support since Jan. 31. She was discovered face down and unresponsive in a bathtub at the Georgia home she shared with Gordon.

Brown’s father, singer Bobby Brown, has insisted their family is continuing to pray for the young woman and has no plans to remove her from life support.

The circumstances surrounding the medical emergency remain under investigation. Some media reports have alleged Gordon and Bobbi Kristina Brown were engaged in a physical altercation before the incident, while others claim she was using drugs and intoxicated the morning she was found in distress.

Bobby Brown has said he will not allow Gordon to see his daughter unless he agrees to certain stipulations, which Brown said Gordon has refused to do.

Gordon was the unofficially adopted son of Houston, Bobby Brown’s ex-wife and Bobbi Kristina Brown’s mother. Houston accidentally drowned while intoxicated in a Los Angeles hotel bathtub Feb. 11, 2012.
