Bobby Brown acknowledges Bobbi Kristina tragedy during first concert since daughter’s hospitalization

LOS ANGELES, April 12 (UPI) — Recording artist Bobby Brown acknowledged his recent personal tragedy during his weekend show at the Soul Food Festival in Los Angeles.

The event marked Brown’s first performance since Bobbi Kristina Brown — his 22-year-old daughter with his late ex-wife Whitney Houston — was placed on life support Jan. 31.

“I wanna thank all of y’all for coming out tonight, for supporting me and my family,” People magazine quoted him as saying after his opening song Saturday. “Rough times are rough times. Hard times are hard times. I don’t know what the hell I’m going through right now, but I’m giving it to God.”

Brown reportedly booked the gig long before Bobbi Kristina was hospitalized and he was legally required to honor the commitment.

Brown has been a fixture at the hospitals and rehab center where his daughter has been treated since she was discovered unconscious and face-down in a bathtub at the home she shared with her boyfriend Nick Gordon. Gordon is now being treated for alcohol and drug addiction, and depression.

The circumstances of Bobbi Kristina’s crisis remain under investigation.
