United Nations (United States) (AFP) – Britain’s new Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson comes to the United Nations on Friday as part of his first official visit to the United States.

Johnson, the former London mayor who lead the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union, will meet with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Security Council diplomats.

“He will make clear that Britain will be more outward-looking, more engaged, and more active on the world stage than ever before,” said a British diplomat.

Johnson will also meet with business leaders in New York to reassure them about trade ties.

On Thursday, he travels to Washington.
