BOSTON, April 30 (UPI) — Ballroom dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis lost a third of her left leg in the Boston Marathon bombings of April 2013 and on Tuesday, performed the foxtrot with her dance partner across the iconic finish line.
As part of a commercial campaign for Oberto Beef Jerky, which has called Haslet-Davis one of their “Heroes of Summer,” the dancer swayed in a flowing gown to a classical tune while all traffic in the area was halted.
“When traffic stopped and we started dancing, people were hanging out cars honking and waving,” Haslet-Davis told the Boston Herald. “The crowd was so sweet. People just wanted to see something joyful on the finish line.”
The professional dancer told NECN that the dance was “incredibly cathartic,” helping her to cherish more positive memories of the site.
