Carolina Panthers owner does the dab

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 7 (UPI) — The contagion living within the Carolina Panthers’ locker room has caught up to the team’s owner.

Jerry Richardson was the latest Panthers personality to do the dab, following the teams 41-38 victory over the New Orleans Saints Sunday.

The Panthers, who won the NFC South division title with the win, have been displaying the dab all season long. Quarterback Cam Newton has made the biggest splash with the move, using it to celebrate his touchdowns in end zones around the league.

After Newton outfitted Richardson with a championship hat, he told the owner: “It’s a new wave that’s going around. Everybody wants to see you dab.”

The 79-year-old Richardson, dressed in a sweater and suit, triggered a boisterous applause when he walked up and lifted his arm to do the dance.

The 12-0 Panthers face the Atlanta Falcons at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 in Charlotte.
