WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Lincoln Chafee says he will address the future of his campaign on Friday following a sluggish debate performance and problems gaining traction against Hillary Rodham Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
The former Rhode Island governor and U.S. senator writes on Twitter on Thursday that he looks forward to speaking at a Democratic National Committee women’s forum on Friday morning.
He says, “I’ll address my future in the campaign there.”
A Chafee spokeswoman did not respond to messages.
Chafee has struggled to build support against Clinton and Sanders. Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb announced earlier this week that he was ending his Democratic campaign.
Chafee raised just $11,000 in the most recent fundraising quarter. Most of his money has come from a $360,000 loan that he gave his campaign.
