NASHVILLE, Aug. 7 (UPI) — Charles Kelley and wife Cassie McConnell are expecting their first child.
The 33-year-old Lady Antebellum singer and his longtime partner announced the news on McConnell’s website Fashionista on Friday. The couple have been together for nearly 10 years, and married as a legal formality in June 2009.
“Charles and I are SO BEYOND EXCITED to share with y’all that we are expecting a baby!” McConnell wrote. “He or she is due in February and we are so happy we can hardly stand it. Like, ecstatic and I’m crying even as I type those words!”
“We had about a 1% chance of conceiving a child naturally,” she revealed. “We never stopped hoping though … and [Charles’] love, support, passion for our marriage and our future children has never, EVER wavered, even when the frustration seemed insurmountable.”
Kelley is brother to singer Josh Kelley, who is wed to actress Katherine Heigl, and last released 747 with Lady Antebellum in September 2014. He, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood will bring their accompanying Wheels Up tour to a close Oct. 3 in Las Vegas.
