China’s longest escalator ride lasts 2-1/2 minutes

CHONGQING, China, Nov. 24 (UPI) — A video recorded by a visitor to a Chinese subway station documents the 2 1/2-minute ascent of an escalator believed to be China’s longest.

The video recorded at the Chongqing Railway Station shows the resident board the moving staircase and riding for a full 2-1/2 minutes before reaching the top.

The escalator was built in 1996 and measures 367 feet.

The moving staircase, which ascends 173 feet vertically, is believed to be China’s largest.
