Aug. 22 (UPI) — Chrissy Teigen is cutting back on drinking in an attempt to “fix” herself.

The 31-year-old model said in an interview with Cosmopolitan that she took her recent trip to a wellness retreat in Bali after she realized she has a problem with alcohol.

“I was, point blank, just drinking too much,” Teigen said. “I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into my having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show.”

“Then I felt bad for making kind of an [expletive] of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible,” she said. “It’s not a good look for me, for [my husband] John [Legend], for anybody.”

Teigen said her family history of alcohol abuse and the medications she takes for postpartum depression and anxiety made her start to consider the effect alcohol was having on her health.

“Nobody really brought it up to me,” the star said. “They just assumed that it was OK because I always felt OK the next morning. I knew in my heart it wasn’t right. It makes you very short with people.”

“I used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober, but now I get it. I don’t want to be that person,” she asserted. “I have to fix myself.”

Teigen, Legend and their 18-month-old daughter, Luna, visited the Como Shambhala wellness retreat in Bali in June. The model said on Instagram at the time that she had “the most wonderful time” at the estate.

“My body and mind have never felt so clear,” she wrote. “Thank you for getting me to move again (first time since I was 8 months pregnant and Luna is ummmm 15 months old) and giving me some much-needed body and nutrition schooling!”
