SEATTLE, Sept. 23 (UPI) — Amazon says it has ordered six pilots for potential, small-screen series featuring Anna Camp, Flea, Ryan Kwanten, Shaquille O’Neal, Terry O’Quinn, Chris Parnell, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Christina Ricci and David Strathairn.
Scheduled to debut later this year exclusively via the Amazon Video, subscriber-streaming service, the programs include: Good Girls Revolt, which tells the story of a group of young women, seeking to be treated fairly and ultimately sparking changes that upend marriages, careers, love and friendship in 1969; Patriot, a political thriller that chronicles the complicated life of an intelligence officer; Z, a half-hour bio-series about 1920s icon Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald and her passionate love affair with literary giant F. Scott Fitzgerald; and Highston, a family comedy about a 19-year-old with invisible celebrity friends.
The slate also includes Edge, a western set in the post-Civil War era where one cowboy doles out his own savage brand of justice, and One Mississippi, a dark comedy loosely inspired by comedian Tig Notaro’s life.
“Our latest pilot season brings together a diverse group of shows that we think customers will really enjoy,” Roy Price, vice president of Amazon Studios, said in a statement Monday.
“We have something for everyone in this season and I am excited to see which shows spark conversation amongst our customers and what they want to be made into series.”
Amazon is the home of the original series Transparent for which Jeffrey Tambor this week won an Emmy for Lead Actor in a Comedy.
