NEW YORK, Aug. 21 (UPI) — Singer Ciara stood by her and boyfriend Russell Wilson’s decision to remain celibate during an interview Wednesday morning.
During an appearance on CBS This Morning, the “I Bet” artist shared some details about abstaining from sex, calling it “a great challenge.”
When it comes to the couple’s resolve to go public, Ciara says it happened in Church. “It was one of those things where it was an organic conversation [Wilson] was having,” she said. “I don’t think he expected to talk about it either. But I guess he was just speaking the reality of what is really going on.”
“I think the cool thing is just being able to share our journey with some other people like us,” she said. “It’s a great challenge. I can definitely say that. But it’s awesome because we get to really challenge ourselves, get to know each other and really build a foundation.”
In July, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback revealed his and Ciara’s choice was God-inspired. “God spoke to me and said, ‘I need you to lead her,’” he said during an interview with Pastor Miles MacPherson.
“And I was like, ‘Really?’ And he was like, ‘No, I want you to need you to lead her.’ So I told her, ‘What would you do if we took all of that extra stuff [like sex] off the table and just did it Jesus’ way?’ and she was relieved.”
