Cincinnati Bengals put RB Jarveon Williams on Active/PUP, S Brandon Wilson on Active/NFI

July 26 (UPI) — Running back Jarveon Williams and safety Brandon Wilson will still count against the Cincinnati Bengals’ roster limit despite being put on the Active/PUP and Active/NFI lists.

The team announced the moves on Wednesday. Williams is an undrafted rookie out of the University of Texas San Antonio. Wilson was a sixth round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Houston. Wilson is on the active/non-football injury list after tweaking his knee this offseason. He sat out through Bengals OTAs.

Cincinnati traded up in the draft to snag Wilson in the sixth round. The college cornerback is listed at safety on the Bengals’ roster. In addition to defensive back, Wilson also played running back and returned kicks for the Cougars.

Williams didn’t participate in OTAs or rookie mini-camp.

Williams left UTSA as the school’s all-time leading rusher, with 2,390 yards and 19 scores on the ground. He totaled 2,929 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns in four seasons at the school.

Both players can be removed from the lists and are active to practice as soon as they gain medical clearance.

The Bengals currently have second round pick Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard, Jeremy Hill, Cedric Peerman, Tra Carson, Stanley Wilson and Williams on their roster at running back. George Iloka, Derron Smith and Shawn Williams join Wilson at safety.

Cincinnati’s first practice is set for 3 p.m. Friday at Paul Brown Stadium.
