Falcao ridicules Monaco exit claims

Radamel Falcao and his Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri dismissed reports on Sunday that the Colombian striker is set for a transfer back to Spain’s La Liga or to the English Premier League.

The 27-year-old, who scored his second goal in two matches from the penalty spot during Monaco’s 4-1 victory over Montpellier, denied he wanted to quit the Cote d’Azur club over his salary conditions.

“Everything is false even the numbers being talked about are false. I believe in the project at Monaco and I’m staying at Monaco,” said the South American striker.

Ranieri also poured cold water on the Spanish media claims and said his prized asset had settled in well since his 60 million euro ($80 million) transfer from Atletico Madrid in the close season.

“They are just rumours, always rumours and just to make up stories. Falcao is staying here, he’s happy and his daughter was born here,” said Ranieri in reference to the recent birth of the player’s daughter during the week.

The reports, which stemmed from Spanish daily Marca, said Falcao was unhappy with his salary and could be in for a late transfer to either Chelsea, Manchester United or even Real Madrid before the market closes on September 2.
