Co-conspirator of Subway pitchman Jared Fogle to be sentenced

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 10 (UPI) — The man who created and funneled child pornography to former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court Thursday.

Russell Taylor, 44, will argue he only deserves 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to 12 counts of producing child pornography and one of distributing. Federal prosecutors are asking for 35 years for Taylor, who headed Fogle’s charitable foundation from 2009 until he was arrested in April.

Prosecutors said Taylor secretly recorded a dozen children between the ages of 9 to 16, including family members, and shared them with Fogle. Investigators found Taylor and Fogle would travel the country to promote healthy living to school children while seeking out strippers and prostitutes on the road.

Taylor said low self esteem and family instability led him to a highly sexualized lifestyle. He said he was in a “psychologically abusive relationship” with Fogle.
