LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4 (UPI) — Colton Haynes responded to speculation about his sexuality Saturday.
The 27-year-old actor appeared to come out as gay in a Tumblr post after a fan expressed excitement about Haynes’ reported “secret gay past.”
“When I found out Colton Haynes had a secret gay past I got so excited even though I know it makes absolutely no difference in my life,” the person said.
Haynes responded to the post on his account, writing, “Was it a secret? Let’s all just enjoy life & have no regrets :)” with a series of emojis. The actor said he is “so stoked” for the new year the day previous, tweeting, “No fear this year. Cheers #2016.”
Haynes had opened up about his struggle with anxiety and agoraphobia last month, revealing it’s been a “constant” battle for him since fifth grade. He told fans also struggling they’re not alone and encouraged them to “fight through.”
“Anxiety had put me in the hospital a countless amount of times,” he wrote on Twitter. “Whether it be fainting, hyperventilating, or seizures…I’ve been through it. Just know ur not alone & it affects more ppl than you would ever know. We can overcome this. We can fight thru it & will.”
Haynes is known for playing Jackson Whittemore on MTV drama Teen Wolf, and presently portrays Roy Harper, aka Arsenal, on The CW series Arrow. The superhero series is in its fourth season, and will return from mid-season break Jan. 20.
