LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21 (UPI) — Countess Vaughn apologized to Moesha co-star Brandy on Saturday and is now on good terms with the actress.
Vaughn, 37, ended the pair’s nearly 20-year feud by writing an open letter to Brandy, 36, on Instagram. The actresses played best friends Kim and Moesha on the UPN sitcom from 1996 to 2001, but were not as friendly in real life.
“@4everbrandy I’m proud of you,” Vaughn wrote. “We been threw are ups and downs, high and lows … But at the end of the day I had to learn in find myself why not be friends when we’re both talented, Why call you names when your just an amazing person.”
“I care about your life and your happiness,” she added. “I wouldn’t do what I did if I didn’t. I care about you as a person. We are spiritual siblings, you and I. I know this to be true. And it means a lot to me… I apologize for anything Negative I’ve ever done are said to you.”
Brandy had claimed Vaughn called her names in public in a 1998 interview with Vibe magazine. She accepted the actress’ apology in the comments, saying her heart was touched by her former co-star’s words.
“I’m so thankful that we had such an amazing journey together as artist and as sisters growing up and growing through the pressures of being child stars,” she wrote. “I would love to start a new friendship with you with new heads on both our shoulders.”
Vaughn went on to star on Moesha spinoff The Parkers, and presently appears on TV One reality series Hollywood Divas. Brandy has since starred on The CW dramedy The Game, and played Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway this year.
