Feb. 5 (UPI) — The Directors Guild of America presented Damien Chazelle with its award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

Chazelle’s contemporary, movie musical La La Land — starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling — is also up for 14 Oscars later this month.

The DGA win makes Chazelle the filmmaker to beat at the Oscars.

Garth Davis took home the DGA honor for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in First-Time Feature Film for Lion, another Best Picture Oscar contender.

Miguel Sapochnik scored the prize for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series for helming the Game of Thrones episode “The Battle of the Bastards,” and Becky Martin earned the accolade for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series for her work on the Veep episode “Inauguration.”
