Data shows white is second most popular Christmas tree color

WASHINGTON, Dec. 14 (UPI) — A study of the most popular Christmas tree colors other than green found that white was favored by a majority of US states.

Online Christmas tree retailer Treetopia conducted a study of Christma tree purchasing habits in the United States. One such trend was a state by state breakdown what color of artificial Christmas tree is most popular after the traditionRep. Al Green (D-TX).

“In every state the single most popular color for an artificial christmas tree is green,” they wrote. “Though there’s more to the story than that.”

The chart shown on the site listed the colors of trees available on the site, filling each state in with its most-purchased color.

The data showed that 30 of the 50 states preferred white trees, particularly in the central, southeastern and northeastern regions of the United States.

The second most popular color was pink, which was mostly favored in the Northwest as well as Alaska, Mississippi, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Black was a close third, dominating the Midwest along with Arizona and Delaware.

Some interesting outliers were Montana and Wyoming, which favored rainbow and orange trees respectively and Idaho and Colorado’s flashy-yet-festive choice of red.

The least popular colors were blue, gold, brown and candy cane, all of which failed to win any state.
