CULVER CITY, Calif., Dec. 3 (UPI) — The creator of a dating website exclusively for Disney devotees was inspired by his own difficulty finding “women who were as interested in Disney as I am.”
Dave Tavres of Culver City said he founded MouseMingle.com, which went live Wednesday, to help fans of Disney’s magical romances find “the same magic in their relationship.”
“Niche dating sites are more common these days,” Tavres told Los Angeles Magazine. “There’s a dating site for pot lovers and JDate for Jewish people. The first time I saw Farmers Only I thought it was a Saturday Night Live sketch.”
Tavres said users can check out a whole new world of profiles and photos for free, but it costs $12.55 a month — with the “55” a nod to Disneyland’s 1955 founding — to send a message.
Site users are asked about their favorite Disney songs, Disney shopping habits and “Disney nerd level” to help make matches.
The entrepreneur, who used to live in Anaheim and work on the Disneyland Railroad, said his inspiration came from his own difficulties finding someone to be a part of his world.
“I’m not the guy who hits on women at the park, and there’s no flag that says, ‘Hey I’m single,’” Tavres said. “I found it hard to find women who were as interested in Disney as I am.”
