David Hasselhoff announces name change

WASHINGTON, Nov. 13 (UPI) — David Hasselhoff says he’s sick of his name.

The former Baywatch star announced he has changed his name to David Hoff over social media Thursday.

“I’ve been wanting to drop the Hassel from my life for years,” he said in a brief YouTube video. “Now, I have made it official: David Hoff,” he adds, holding up a framed certificate. The celebrity effectively changed his listed names on Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

“So many people think my life is all TV shows, musicals and Hollywood,” he wrote on his official Facebook page. “But that’s not true. I’ve got my share of hassles too. Now I’m taking matters into my own hands and making a change. Officially.”

Whether the name change is actually official has not been confirmed by anyone aside from the Kung Fury actor, however, Hasselhoff appears to be serious about the change.

“Big news today and a massive relief for me,” he wrote on Twitter. “I hope everyone can understand…it feels great!”
