NEW YORK, Jan. 4 (UPI) — David Letterman jokingly told TMZ this weekend that Stephen Colbert should have Vladimir Putin as his first Late Show guest.

Letterman will continue to host The Late Show with David Letterman until May 20, CBS has announced. Meanwhile, Stephen Colbert hosted his last episode of The Colbert Report in December.

Colbert will take the reins of The Late Show after Letterman retires, and The Colbert Report will be replaced by The Minority Report, hosted by former Daily Show correspondent Larry Wilmore.
