Davy Jones’ guitars, clothes to hit the auction block in NYC next month

NEW YORK, April 6 (UPI) — Julien’s Auctions says it plans to sell off property from the estate of pop-music icon Davy Jones next month in New York.

The auction is to take place May 15-16 at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Jones is best known for his work with the band The Monkees, which was famous for its hits “I’m a Believer,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday” and “Daydream Believer.” Jones died of a heart attack in 2012. He was 66.

Among the dozens of items to hit the auction block are Jones’ plaque commemorating the installation of the Monkees’ star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; his Carvin Acoustic Electric guitar with a red quilt finish; shirts and suits he wore on stage; his driver’s license and wallet; and a Monkees neon sign the group used during shows.
