Dax Shepard posts cute throwback photo with Kristen Bell

Jan. 17 (UPI) — Dax Shepard delighted fans this week by posting a throwback photo with Kristen Bell.

The 42-year-old actor reflected on his early years with the 36-year-old actress in an Instagram post Sunday.

“9 years ago. And unfortunately that bottom lip isn’t from injections, it’s Skoal. That’s right, I landed @kristenanniebell while in the throes of a nasty dip habit. Thanks for being an optimist, honey,” he wrote.

Shepard and Bell welcomed their first child, daughter Lincoln, in 2013, and married the same year after six years of dating. They welcomed their second daughter, Delta, in 2014, and celebrated Shepard’s 12th year of sobriety in September.

“He knows the value of things. He was an addict for many, many years and he pulled himself out of it,” Bell said of Shepard and his addiction issues on CBS Sunday Morning in 2016. “He knows how many times he’s messed up and how many times he’s been really close to losing everything.

“He’s a wonderful father,” she gushed. “We got married in a tiny room in the Beverly Hills courthouse, and it was still one of the best days of my life.”

Shepard and Bell stepped out as a couple to the 2017 Golden Globe Awards last week, but skipped the after-parties for a cozy night in. The pair instead played the board game Settlers of Catan at home.

“If anybody knew what was up, they’d all be playing a game night as well,” the actress explained on the red carpet. “It’s a wonderful, intense, strategy-driven [game]. It causes riffs, it’s broken friendships.”

Shepard is known for playing Crosby Braverman on Parenthood, and wrote, directed and will star in a forthcoming film adaptation of CHiPs. Bell portrays Eleanor Shellstrop on The Good Place, which airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
