LOS ANGELES, June 21 (UPI) — Belfast-born musician Vivian Campbell says he has dropped out of his band Def Leppard’s concert tour, so he can undergo treatment for cancer.
“I’m saddened by the fact that my cancer has returned. However, I’m beyond consolation that it’s return will prevent me from being able to do my job for a while,” the 52-year-old guitarist posted on Facebook Saturday.
“I’m still working on a schedule of treatment with my doctors, but I will see you all very soon. My apologies.”
Campbell announced in June 2013 that he had Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He has twice gone into remission since, but the disease returned after he finished treatment.
“I’m overwhelmed by the support and well-wishes that everyone has sent to me. Thank you all so very much – it means a lot to me,” he said in an update Sunday. “Looking on the bright side: at least I’m getting to spend father’s day with my daughters. Yay for that!”
