‘Descendants 2’ in the works at the Disney Channel with China Anne McClain joining cast

LOS ANGELES, June 10 (UPI) — Production is to begin this summer on Descendants 2, a second TV movie about the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains, the Disney Channel said Friday.

The sequel is expected to premiere in 2017.

“Just when you thought ‘Happily Ever After’ had come to the land of Auradon, Descendants 2 turns the page to reveal a whole new level of mystery and surprise,” Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement.

Kenny Ortega is to return as director, executive producer and choreographer. Also coming back for the follow-up will be cast members Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Sofia Carson and Mitchell Hope. China Anne McClain will also join the cast as the daughter of sea witch Ursula.
