LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 (UPI) — Beloved actor Dick Van Dyke celebrated his 90th birthday this weekend in Los Angeles with a Mary Poppins flash mob.
Dozens of people dressed like characters from Van Dyke’s classic, 1964 movie musical gathered at The Grove Saturday and danced to songs such as “Step in Time,” “Jolly Holiday,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “Chim Chim Cher-ee.”
A YouTube video shot by Trevor Perez chronicled the event. At the end of the clip, Van Dyke is seen joining the crowd for an enthusiastic sing-along of “Let’s Go Fly a Kite.”
“I am very grateful that at 90 years old, I can still go out and play!! #dvdturns90,” he tweeted Sunday, along with a link to the video.
