Doug Liman to direct ‘Gambit’ film starring Channing Tatum

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 (UPI) — It looks like Fox’s Gambit, is heading in a new direction.

Well, maybe not. But the X-Men spin-off may have found its new director.

Fox met with various filmmakers after losing original director Rupert Wyatt, and are now in the final stages of negotiating with Edge of Tomorrow director, Doug Liman.

Wyatt claims he left the project due to scheduling conflicts.

However, according The Hollywood Reporter, a studio executive close to Wyatt said the Rise of the Planet of the Apes director left the project over “creative differences.”

The superhero action film, will star Channing Tatum as the Marvel character, who adapts energy to cause explosions.

Entertainment Weekly says that Gambit will wield a deck of cards and “plenty of charm.”

The site also reported that the film’s female lead role as assassin organization leader Bella Donna Boudreaux has been offered to Spectre actress Lea Seydoux.

Tatum will produce the film along with Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Reid Carolin.
