NEW YORK, April 22 (UPI) — Dr. Mehmet Oz fires back at the group of doctors who asked for his removal from Columbia University.
Ten physicians wrote a letter to Dr. Lee Goldman, dean of faculties for Health Sciences and Medicine at Columbia, complaining about the TV host’s position as vice chairman of the surgery department at the university.
The group of doctors, who are not affiliated with Columbia University, made claims about the doctor, saying, “he’s a quack and a fake and a charlatan.”
Dr. Oz intially defended himself by providing a statement to E! News after the matter stating: “I bring the public information that will help them on their path to be their best selves. We provide multiple points of view, including mine which is offered without conflict of interest. That doesn’t sit well with certain agendas which distort the facts. For example, I do not claim that GMO foods are dangerous, but believe that they should be labeled like they are in most countries around the world. I will address this on the show next week.”
Today obtained exclusive footage from an upcoming episode where the doctor responds to the claims made about him.
“These doctors are criticizing me for promoting treatments and cures in the interest of personal financial gain, something I tell you every day on this program I never do,” he says.
He tell his critics: “I vow to you right here right now, we will not be silenced, we will not give in.”
