TORONTO, Sept. 23 (UPI) — After releasing a joint mixtape with Future, hip-hop artist Drake has collaborated with chef Susur Lee to open up a new restaurant in his hometown of Toronto.
The rapper celebrated the soft-opening of Fring’s Toronto on Monday with friends and family including Jaden and Jada Pinkett Smith and rumored girlfriend, tennis star Serena Williams.
Chef Susur Lee, a past contestant on Iron Chef and Top Chef Masters spoke about the eatery’s menu which has not yet been solidified.
“We haven’t really figured it out yet,” Lee told Now Toronto. “We’re still testing and tasting, you know. Good things take time.”
Along with Drake, Lee is heading up the restaurant with his two sons Kavi and Levi Bent-Lee.”I really felt that it was time, you know, for them to flourish,” he said. “They’ve been working for so many years with me, and they found their own way, their own kind of trail.”
Fring’s Toronto is the second surprise project from Drake since the sudden launch of his mixtape with fellow singer Future entitled What A Time To Be Alive.
In August, Drake and Williams were linked together when the pair was spotted kissing after the star athlete won the Women’s Tennis Association tournament.
