INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 22 (UPI) — Indianapolis Colt Dwayne Allen had some tough words for his own team Wednesday, saying the Patriots could have played “with soap for balls” and beat his team.
The tweet comes after it was revealed the New England Patriots allegedly deflated 11 of 12 of their game balls so they would be easier to catch and grip during their championship game against the Colts.
The deflated balls were discovered by the referees at halftime in a game where the Patriots beat the Colts 45-7.
@NFLonFOX not a story. They could have played with soap for balls and beat us. Simply the better team. We have to continue to build! #BTM— Dwayne Allen (@Dallen83) January 21, 2015
The NFL is investigating the incident. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said he had no knowledge of the issue.
