LOS ANGELES, Dec. 27 (UPI) — Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill sent fans into a frenzy by hinting at a Black Adam and Superman crossover Sunday.

The 44-year-old American actor and 33-year-old British star, who play Black Adam and Superman in the DC Comics cinematic universe, sparked speculation by posing together for a new photo.

“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Black Adam and Superman (@henrycavill). Today we drink like gentleman and come together as friends. We’re excited for what the future brings. #DangerousGentlemen #DCWorldsWillCollide #BlackSavagery,” Johnson captioned the picture.

Johnson’s post received over 985,000 likes from excited fans. The actor confirmed he and Cavill spent Christmas together after an artist shared fan art of Black Adam and Superman that received hundreds of likes.

“We had Cavill over to the Johnson family household for Christmas. A good day. Tequila & whiskey. #BlackAndSups,” he tweeted Tuesday.

Johnson will debut as Black Adam in the movie Shazam!, which is slated for release April 5, 2019. He previously denied he would fight Superman in the film, causing fans to believe he may appear in the Superman movie Man of Steel 2, which has yet to set a release date.

“Won’t happen in the first movie, but nothing would make me happier. He’s got it comin’. #BlackAdamVsSuperman #Shazam,” the actor tweeted in April.

Cavill first played Superman in Man of Steel (2013), and reprised the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which opened in March. He will next portray the superhero in Justice League, which opens Nov. 17, 2017.
